May 14, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): ‘Field of Dreams’, Iowa’s world-famous landmark, has been put on the market. The site was able to magnetize sightseers after the recognition of the 1989 motion picture with same name. Proprietors of the property, Don and Becky Lansing, have uttered that they are geared up to retire and are, therefore, looking for someone else to prolong the preservation of the iconic sight. They declared that ‘Field of Dreams’ has been like their child. They have greeted millions of vacationers over the past two decades.

Becky Lansing divulged that the field signified something different for every vacationer. Some unite with baseball, while, it is about reconnecting with their fathers for the others. Lansing vocalized that it is the people, who visit the field, that have made it what it is.

All the acres of the property, which consist of the baseball diamond, a two-bedroom house, and six outbuildings, are waiting to be vended. As far as the asking price is concerned, it purportedly is 5.4 billion dollars. The Lansings have repudiated the possibility of a public auction, which is normally utilized, to vend the Iowa farmland.

The baseball field was constructed in the summer of 1988 by Universal Studios for the motion picture, Field of Dreams, which involved sports and drama. The motion picture was anchored in the novel, Shoeless Joe, by W. P. Kinsella. It was directed and adapted for the screen by Phil Alden Robinson. It consisted of Kevin Costner, Amy Madigan, Gaby Hoffmann etc. and received the nominations such as Academy Award for Best Music, Original Score, Best Picture and Best Writing.
