Mcleodganj (Himachal Pradesh), Mar 15 (ANI): Thousands of exiled Tibetans participated in a peaceful candlelight protest here last evening. “The candle light procession is to show solidarity. It is organised by the Tibetan Youth Congress. I think China is hearing our message and if they are hearing our message they should use their wisdom, it will be better for them,” said Dhondup Dorjee, Vice President of the Tibetan Youth Congress.
“We are here to condemn Chinese brutal forces which they used against peaceful demonstrators. We appeal the international countries and the Olympic committee that they must immediately cancel Beijing as a host of 2008 Olympic games,” said Lobsang Wangyal, a Tibetan activist.
As the Olympic Games to be held in Beijing in August this year, the Tibetans are trying to revive their freedom movement and protest against China’s illegal occupation of their homeland.
The Dalai Lama has rejected China’s accusation he is trying to sabotage the Olympics.
Meanwhile, authorities in China have warned those involved with rioting in Tibetan capital Lhasa top give themselves up by Monday midnight.
According to a Xinhua news agency report, law and order authorities in Tibet have issued a notice to the rioters, accusing them of burning schools, hospitals, shops and houses, besides killing ten people.
The security crack down announcement on Saturday came even as Chinese Television showed pictures of rioters burning building in Lhasa for the first time ever.
