Elder Health Care to honour fashion designers Friday
November 16th, 2010 - 10:27 pm ICT by IANSBangalore, Nov 16 (IANS) Leading designers from India and abroad will be honoured here Friday for their contribution to global fashion at the second BeYu Fashion Awards 2010 event, an organising official said Tuesday.
To be presented by premium clothing brand Lawman Pg3, the two-day fashion extravaganza Nov 19-20 will showcase latest collections of well-known Indian and overseas designers.
“The annual event awards rising stars and fashion industry leaders for their innovative talent, designs, textiles and embellishments,” Elder Health Care Ltd managing director Anuj Saxena told reporters here at a preview of the event.
Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, Sandalwood star Diganth and other Kannada cine stars will walk the ramp for celebrated Indian designer Sharbari Datta’s sequence to display her handcrafted masterpieces, including ‘Bhadralok’ (Bengali) dhoti-kurta ensembles with sherwanis, embroidered with hand done Kantha and Swarovski.
As part of the Mumbai-based Elder Pharmaceuticals group, Elder Health Care is organising the fashion show for its German premium cosmetic brand BeYu.
Fashion choreographer and stylist guru Prasad Bidapa will choreograph the event.
Kangana will repeat her act from film “Fashion” this time in real life Saturday to showcase Lawman denimwear for which she is the brand ambassador.
“A mix of emerging and eminent designers, including Julie Kagti, Bibi Russell, Anjalie Sharma, Ritu and Rochana, Nimrita, Satkrit, Amanda Bacchali, Stringhopper, Sneha, Raj Shroff and Sanchita will showcase their collections to set the trend for 2011,” Saxena said.
The awards will be in categories such as Lifetime Achievement (Indian and international), Jet Airways/BeYu International, BeYu Best Label Launch of 2010, BeYu Best Use of Traditional Textiles, BeYu Best Beach & Resort Wear, BeYu Best Emerging Brand, BeYu Men’s Wear Brand of the Year and the BeYu Prasad Bidapa GEN-NEXT.
“The designs will be presented to an elite audience by the country’s leading catwalk models, walking the ramp made up by international make-up artist Diego Schober,” Saxena added.
