gay Los Angeles, Jan 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The online Internet dating site eHarmony has settled a California lawsuit, in which the gays had said that it discriminated against them. The Internet dating site battled in out in the Los Angeles Superior Court and both the sides agreed to a proposed settlement too. According to the agreement ‘eHarmony will link its straight and gay Web sites and allow people to use both without paying double fees.’

Plaintiff’s attorney Todd Schneider said that the company would also pay close to $500,000 to around 150 Californians to settle the class-action suit. Apart from this the company will also pay around $1.5 million in court and attorney’s fees. They agreed to pay the whopping sum, even though the company claimed that they didn’t do any wrongdoing. However the settlement is yet to be approved by a judge.

“We believed that the complaint resulted from an unfair characterization of our business,” eHarmony said in a statement. “We ultimately decided it was best to settle with the Attorney General since litigation outcomes can be unpredictable.” Now the company is thinking about a separate site, which will be called ‘Compatible Partners’ and also offer over 10,000 free six-month subscriptions to interested parties.
