Islamabad, July 26 (ANI): Deepening differences between the coalition partners, the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, over many issues, have brought the legislation in Pakistan almost to a halt.

At least 15 bills are stuck in Parliament due to delay in the convening of National Assembly (NA) session and non-functioning standing committees, according to the Daily Times.

The sources said that because all these bills had been referred to standing committees, there might be delay in their passage through parliament.

The members of the standing committees have been nominated but their chairpersons are yet to be elected, sources said, adding that the committee would not function until their chairpersons were elected.

They said it was the governments responsibility to make the committees functional within 30 days after the approval.

Sources said out of the 15 bills, four had been introduced in the Finance Bill, but the government dropped them later and moved them separately in the House. (ANI)
