New Delhi, Mar 14 (ANI): Fashion blooms on the third day of the Wills India Fashion Week (WIFW) as designer creations “Ravage” by Raj Shroff and Neetu Gupta showcased the strong concept - “The Tree of Life” while designer Surily Goel demonstrated her creative brilliance with eclectic and sporty collection.

Personifying the art of living, designers Raj Shroff and Neetu Gupta have adopted different inspiring aspects of the tree in their collection “The Tree of life”.

The creations epitomize the views, emotions and styles inspired by India and its vast heritage.

The talented duo that has spent a year in Paris studying, researching and catering to the international market and their designs bring in the rich heritage by infusing Indian sensibilities in western garments.

The colour schemes were reflective of the barks and branches of a tree as it would appear in different light at different times of the day and night.

“The collection is based on tree of life. It’s basically inspired by the concept of tree of life, the beauty in the tree of life and the mirage converted in textures in terms of how the garments look. It’s basically autumn and winter collection. We have just come back from ‘Pret a Poreter’ Paris and all experience of us living in Paris in that span of time,” said Raj Shroff, a designer.

A palette of rich browns, earthy greens, deep reds and rusts with metallic gold reproduces the magical quality of the Tree Of Life. The fabrics include jersey, brocades, net and felt.

The strength and beauty of their inspiration comes through in the grand designs where the duo has experienced the deeper meaning with self-evaluation and great understanding.

Meanwhile, designer Surily Goel creations have retained definitive elegance for a global customer.

“The collection is basically evening wear collection. It’s for autumn-winter; the colour palette is quite dark. Lots of purples, blue, black like legging, leg wormers, lot of layering, jackets. I think basically that states the collection. Actually I think I am quite happy and relieved because I think that dresses have turned up nicely because this is my forte. I think anybody can wear it and go out and party, ” said Surily Goel, a designer.

Her latest designs showcased a lot of dresses and jackets, crisp and non-fussy - reflecting a glimpse of retro hippy chic in combination with a light 80s disco appeal.

Bold yellow edging defined edgy style lines and provided the creations with a soft fluid structure.

Most referential to the sporty retro appeal was a golden fitted jumpsuit with crystallized waist belt - a true homage to John Travolta - let the party begin.

The 11th edition of the WIFW yet again promises to be a grand affair with nearly 84 designers and 40 shows.

The five-day event, which got off to a rollicking start in New Delhi on Wednesday, is being held at the Pragati Maidan, a sprawling trade promotion complex in the heart of the Indian capital.

Fashion extravaganzas like the Wills India Fashion Week provide a platform for the designers to directly interact with the buyers and do good business. (ANI)
