Mumbai, Oct 20 (IANS) After selling his collections from hi-end stores for seven years, Mumbai-based designer Troy Costa opened his first flagship store here Thursday.

“I was retailing from hi-end stores in Mumbai for past few years but after getting reviews and demands from patrons, I thought of opening my own store as this will give people more space to see my collection and experience it,” Costa, who launched his label ‘Helen of Troy’ in 2003, told IANS.

The designer, who has dressed up Bollywood style icons like Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol, Imran Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Farhan Akhtar and John Abraham, has opened his store in Bandra and feels that the location is the “hub of fashion and trend”.

“Bandra is the the hub of most creative energies including fashion and Bollywood and was the only choice of area for the store. The Troy Costa store houses a retail area, made to measure studio and an outdoor cafe,” the designer added.

The store features a mix of both men’s wear and women’s wear including gowns, suits, trousers and made-to-measure suits. The men’s wear line has already been launched while women’s wear will be put on display from next month.

“Our men’s wear label is focussed on modern masculinity and flattering functionality and the clothes depict a style that represents details and quality,” said Costa.

“Also I love to design for women as they helped create the world, so I design clothes that reflect their strength and energy while at the same time reflect their individuality,” the designer said.
