Los Angeles, Oct 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Cookie Johnson has launched a new series of denim pants for the fit but curvy women. This development happened because she couldn’t find jeans for herself that fit her curvy body and were comfortable also.
Cookie Johnson used to have a hard time whenever she went shopping for a pair of comfortable denims. “Every time I would go to the stores, I put the jeans on and I couldn’t get them past my thighs. I thought: ‘I’m in good shape. I work out. I eat healthy. Why can’t I find a jean to fit me?’” Cookie says she eventually had a realization that changed the course of her career. “I said: ‘You know what, it’s not me. It’s the industry.’”
Cookie Johnson has graduated from Michigan State University and also a degree in Retailing of Clothing and Textiles, which will now reap dividends for her. The new brand of denims ‘CJ’, launched by her is a result of a collaborative effort with Michael Glasser, a name in the denim line Rich and Skinny.
The secret to her success, she says, is the wonderful stretch fabric also known as Lycra. “My partner, Michael Glasser, is an expert at fabrics, and he searched all over and found these wonderful fabrics from Europe that had great stretch to them but were so comfortable at the same time,” she says. “We put a silk waistband inside the waist so they will be nice and comfortable. There’s a lot of different aspects to this jean that go to comfort.”
The jeans come in the sizes from 2 to 18, and cost a bit on the steeper side at, $141 to $198.They can be found at popular stores like Nordstrom’s, Bloomingdale’s and Neiman Marcus.
