Cabinet approves amendments to Seeds Bill, 2004June 26th, 2008 - 5:21 pm ICT by ANI
New Delhi, June 26 (ANI): The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for moving official amendments in the Seeds Bill, 2004.
The proposed amendments would regulate the quality of seeds and planting materials to ensure availability of quality seeds to the farmers and to curb sale of spurious and poor quality seeds.
It would also help to increase private participation in seeds production, distribution, seed testing, and to liberalise imports of seeds and planting materials and to protect the rights of farmers. (ANI)
