Britons spend 12 hours staring at electronic screens
May 26th, 2011 - 4:30 pm ICT by IANSLondon, May 26 (IANS) Britons spend almost 12 hours every day staring at an electronic screen, including that of a computer, television or mobile phone, says a new study.
Five hours is taken up by computers, three hours by TVs, and at least one hour by mobile phones. Other gadgets like iPads and e-book readers account for the rest of the screen gazing time, says the study by Esure insurers.
Over two-thirds of those polled simultaneously use phones and laptops while watching TV, reports the Daily Express.
Nikki Sellers, of the insurance firm, said: “These gadgets have become central to people’s lives, so it’s not surprising that so much time is spent staring at a screen.”
