Britons feel they had best of times in 1980s

Madonna London, May 20 (IANS) Many British nationals feel the 1980s’ decade was the best of time of their life.

According to a survey conducted by TV station CBS Drama, the British are obsessed with the 1980s - recalling the decade as the best time of their lives, the Daily Express reported Friday.

Nearly 90 percent of people quizzed by the TV station preferred ’80s fashions, which included Madonna-style fingerless gloves, those covering wrist and fingers up to knuckles.

Music also made them nostalgic, with 26 percent saying the 1982 hit ‘Come On Eileen’ by Dexy’s Midnight Runners was their favourite.

Many described the 1980s as a decade of invention, with the microwave oven and the video recorder.

Seven in 10 people confessed to hankering after food from that era, such as crispy pancakes and arctic roll.

Sherbet dips and flying saucers sweets were also coveted. Favourite TV shows included Charlie’s Angels, Dallas and Hawaii Five-0.
