London, Sep 14 (IANS) A married doctor in Britain has been struck off the rolls for seducing a patient and offering her 20,000 pounds later as compensation after his wife found out about the affair.

John Barrington Kenyon, 58, was treating the woman for her depression but later told his patient during counselling sessions at her home in Bickley, Kent, that he “wanted her to have a pleasurable sexual experience”, Daily Mail reported.

The pair had an intense sexual affair between July and November 2009, which ended after Kenyon’s wife learned of the liaison.

The father of four, who is now separated from his wife, admitted that the sexual relationship with a vulnerable patient was an abuse of his position as a doctor.

The doctor was found to have used the counselling sessions to pursue a ’sexually motivated’ relationship, the report said.

A General Medical Council panel, in central London, ordered Kenyon’s name be struck off the medical register.
