Book publishing course starts

New Delhi July 7 (IANS) A four-week training course on book publishing organised by the by the National Book Trust was inaugurated here Thursday.

“Book making is a wonderful trade to enter as a profession,” said Ashok Vajpayee, chairman of Lalit Kala Academy who inaugurated the event.

“Today, with the advancement in technology, digital books are becoming popular among the young and their numbers are growing. But the demand for printed books will also have a good future,” he added.

Said prominent publisher Sridhar Balan: “It is one of the best courses in India for aspirants who wish to be a part of the publishing industry.”

According to the trust, the course was started in 1966.

“The course will provide in-depth knowledge of editing, production, marketing, sales, promotion, electronic publishing, finance and copyright related issues,” said Sumit Bhattacharya, coordinator of the course.
