London, May 21 (IANS) A woman, who was driving without her eyeglasses on, knocked down a pedestrian walking on the roadside — only to realise later that the person she knocked down was her own father!

Britanie Wagner, 21, of Manatee country in Florida state, was pulled over by police shortly after for leaving the scene of an accident, Daily Mail reported Saturday.

According to the police report, at first she told the officer she thought she had struck an animal or a garbage can while driving along a street in Bradenton at 1 a.m.

But when her passenger pointed out that she had actually hit a person, Britanie Wagner is said to have cried out: “Oh my God, I hit my Dad.”

Britanie Wagner told police that she realised it was her 42-year-old father, Oliver Wagner, ‘not because she recognised him but because she knows he always walks on that particular roadway’.

Her fiance Kevin Rodriguez told police Oliver Wagner often walks along the roadway to a billiards hall where he likes to play pool.

Britanie Wagner, who now faces two charges - leaving the scene of an accident and failing to obey a restriction on her driver’s licence requiring her to wear eyeglasses while operating a motor vehicle - is due to appear in court in late June.
