March 15th, 2011 - 5:17 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, March 15 (IANS) Australia will provide technical help to set up a proposed museum on Rabindranath Tagore in Visva-Bharati Univeristy, the Australian High Commission said here Tuesday.
A two-day seminar, jointly organised by AusHeritage, Australia’s international cultural heritage network, and Visva-Bharati University, began Tuesday in Santiniketan to identify critical aspects of proposed Tagore museum.
“The new museum will store and display current collections from Rabindra Bhavan (located within the Visva-Bharati University), including manuscripts, paintings, furniture, textiles and musical instruments,” said a press release of the Australian High Commission here Tuesday.
The Australian delegation includes the AusHeritage chairman Vinod Daniel and heritage specialists Michael Crayford, Anthony Hemingway and Catherine Millikan.
“The forum will explore key aspects for a world class Tagore Museum and the resulting brief can form the basis for the architect and others designing the new museum,” said Daniel.
Visva-Bharati pro-Vice-Chancellor and Rabindra Bhawan director Udaya Narayan Singh said a national level open architectural competition will soon be announced for a museum-cum-auditorium complex.
