At WIFW, lipstick on Narendra Kumar’s cheek
October 24th, 2009 - 8:08 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Oct 24 (IANS) Mumbai-based designer Narendra Kumar left onlookers confused at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) here Saturday with his music-less show and later shocked everyone with a prominent red lipstick mark on his left cheek after the show.
Though the decision of having no background music during the show was his own, the designer seemed unaware of the mark on his cheek. He even turned the other cheek for a kiss from a model as he spoke to reporters after the show.
Asked why he chose not to add background music, Kumar told reporters: “I wanted all the focus on the clothes. My collection is called Introspection and I wanted the audience to feel it.”
There was background music only during the beginning and the end of Kumar’s show, which made the audience a little uneasy.
“What’s happening? Is there a problem with the sound system?” whispered one of the onlookers.
There were others from the electronic press, who also went into a tizzy wondering why there wasn’t any music. However, Kumar made a strong style statement with his well structured clothes in black and white.
