Earthquake in VanuatuA moderate earthquake with an intensity of 5.0 richter scale in Vanuatu.

The moderate quake 5.8 magnitude on richter scale occured on Thursday, October 02, 2008 at 01:04:05 UTC ( Coordinated Universal Time ) and Thursday, October 02, 2008 at 12:04:05 PM at epicenter local time as reported by the U.S. Geological Survey.

The epicenter is 50 km (30 miles) NW of Isangel, Tanna, Vanuatu,180 km (110 miles) SSE of PORT-VILA, Efate, Vanuatu,270 km (170 miles) NNE of Tadine, Loyalty Islands, New Caledonia,1860 km (1150 miles) ENE of BRISBANE, Queensland, Australia.

On June 10, 2008 , an earthquake rocked Vanuatu with an intensity of 5.8 on richter scale at the epicenter of 45 km South West of PORT-VILA, Efate, Vanuatu and 45km southwest of the capital, Port Vila, and 10km beneath the sea. At that time, there is no immediate reports of casuality or damge done.
