Amigo Sport launches FIFA official collection in India
June 11th, 2010 - 11:54 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, June 11 (IANS) Amigo Sports announced the launch of the FIFA collection in India and is planning to set up official FIFA Stores across the country.
The company has entered into an exclusive licensing agreement with Global Brands Group - the master licensee of the FIFA brand globally. The agreement provides for exclusive rights to manufacturing, multi-channel distribution and retail of official FIFA merchandise across India.
“Although India is a cricket crazy nation, TV audience estimates suggest that over 287 million people will be watching the 2010 FIFA World Cup in India,” Simon Hawkins, sales vice president of Global Brands Group, said in a press statement.
“The country with the potential to be one of the largest football consuming nations in the world,” Hawkins added.
The FIFA collection includes FIFA’s football lifestyle apparel and accessories range designed with a unique signature fusing football, fashion and culture.
The first of the FIFA Official Stores will come up in the Palladium Mall and the Oberoi Mall, Mumbai. The stores will stock official FIFA collections, event merchandise and products from FIFA commercial affiliates.
“We feel this is the right time to launch the FIFA Brand in the Indian market with the 2010 FIFA World Cup around the corner. We will bring world class expertise in the roll out of the FIFA Merchandise in India,” said Sanjiv Mehta, chairman, Amigo Sports, in a press statement.
The firm has also tied up with departmental stores like Shoppers Stop, Central and Westside to sell and promote official FIFA branded merchandise.
