Islamabad , June 21 (ANI): The Pakistan government has decided to name an airport and a hospital in Islamabad and a road in Rawalpindi after the countrys former premier and PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto.
According to a statement issued by the prime ministers secretariat, the Islamabad International Airport will now be called Benazir Bhutto International Airport , the Rawalpindi General Hospital (RGH) as Benazir Bhutto Hospital and Murree Road as Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Road , reported the Daily Times.
The announcement, which came a day before Benazir Bhuttos birth anniversary, said that the RGH and Murree Road had been renamed in consultation with the Punjab government.
The prime minister also announced an initial grant of Rs 50 million for the RGH upgradation, construction of a monument outside Rawalpindi s Liaquat Bagh where Benazir was assassinated.
The monuments design will be selected through open international competition, the statement said. (ANI)
