Trouble in Toyland New York, Nov 24 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The 24th annual Trouble in Toyland survey is not on a sweet note for the toy stores and for the parents whose children have these toys. The survey primarily focuses on three categories of hazards related to toys:

• Toys that may pose choking hazards,
• Toys that are excessively loud, and

• Toys that contain the toxic chemicals lead and phthalates.

While the survey found that mostly all the toys were safe, yet there were instances when toys could pose a range of safety hazards to very small children. So it is asking the guardians to remain alert and vigilant to prevent any untoward incidents, like toy-related deaths and injuries.

The U.S. PIRG also increased the scope of unsafe toys to include toys labeled as phthalate-free, as analysis last year showed that even some products labeled phthalate-free contain the dangerous chemical, which are dangerous to children.

It also recommended that the Toy manufacturers shouldn’t put lives at danger and recall all the affected toys as soon as possible so that the children are not affected.

U.S. PIRG also has a new interactive smart phone website – http://www.toysafety.mobi – to help parents and other toy-shoppers avoid common hazards and report potential dangers that they might find in the toys.
