New Delhi, Aug 20 (IBNS) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Thursday named Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Padamsinh Patil as the prime accused in Congress leader Pawanraje Nimabalkar murder case.

The 5000-page CBI charge sheet alleged that Patil was the main conspirator in the 2006 murder case.

“The charge sheet, filed in a Panvel court near Panvel, includes statements of 181 witnesses and over 200 documents alleging involvement of Patil and others in the crime,” said P Kandaswamy, head of CBI’s Mumbai Zone.

As per the charge sheet, Patil gave Nimbalkar’s ‘supari’ (contract killing) out of political rivalry.

“He paid Rs 30 lakh to murder the Congress leader,” the CBI said.

Nimabalkar and his driver were shot dead on June 3, 2006, at Kalamboli in Navi Mumbai.
