Indian PM Manmohan Singh lands in US

Washington DC, Nov 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Indian PM Manmohan Singh is on a state visit to the US, at the invitation of the American President Barack Obama. It is a four-day official visit.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his team landed at the Andrews Air Force Base in nearby Maryland on Sunday afternoon, which is early Monday in India.
During the 4-day state visit, one of the main areas of discussion will be the construction of nuclear power plants in India. Even though the bilateral nuclear cooperation agreement was signed in 2008 the actual work is yet to begin.
India is also hoping that the U.S. will lift the restrictions on handing India fuel processing technologies. Both the countries are also expected to discuss the situation in Pakistan.
Indian PM Manmohan Singh is expected to meet with State Secretary Hillary Clinton, Defense Secretary Robert Gates and other U.S. top officials, too in this 4-day official trip.
