Grid failure for 300 million people across India

New Delhi, July 30 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Monday morning was not good for about 300 million people across India. Airports, railway stations, hospitals and metro stations were al thrown off balance because of a big power blackout.

The blackout was a result of a Northern India power grid crashing on Monday morning. This is said to be the worst power outrage in ten years. 8 provinces were affected with the power blackout. This is inclusive of the India’s capital New Delhi.

The power breakdown left a lot of people in trouble as not a lot could be done without power. Most of the institutions in India depend on power for everything. People were left without power before they could even wake up as the power grid crashed at 1 30 am on Monday morning.

A lot of people were terrified because of the power blackout. Passengers had to wait at the train stations for hours as there were no trains functioning. Other institutions such as airports and hospitals which cannot do without power had to switch to using generators for the day’s activities. Officials say that the grid failure was caused by the huge demand of power by India which could not be met. This has affected a lot of businesses and people are calling on to the relevant bodies to ensure that nothing like this happens again.
