Derailment in West Bengal disrupts train service

Kolkata, Aug 7 (IBNS) Four wagons, one brake van and one diesel engine got derailed at Pakur railway station on Nalhati - Barharwa section of Eastern Railway’s Howrah Division in West Bengal on Friday. Train services were disrupted following the accident.

A moving diesel engine hit the rear of the stationary goods train around 4:38 pm for which, four wagons, one brake van and the diesel engine got derailed, blocking both up and down lines and damaging foot over bridge, an Eastern Railway official said.

Consequently, train services on the section were suspended and two persons had minor injuries. There was no casualty to any passenger.

Mohd. Jamshed, Divisional Railway Manager and senior railway officers of Eastern Railway’s Howrah Division rushed to the site from Howrah by special train.

Accident Relief Train (ART) and medical van with the officers and staff along with Medical team reached the site for rescue operation and treatment.

Several trains were diverted or rescheduled.
