Lucknow, June 30 (ANI): Lucknow zoo is looking after a recently born monkey abandoned by its mother. Even the group abandoned the child monkey.
Its been six weeks that the baby is being rendered motherly care by zoo authorities at a hospital. The authorities are taking care of its diet and growth, and they hope to reunite it with its caged group once it is able to be on its own.
Narrating the unfortunate saga of this tiny monkey, Renu Singh, Director of the zoo said: “Generally, a mother starts feeding its baby after the birth. But its mother made no such move, which made us assume that its mother had abandoned it. It wouldn’t have been right to leave the baby unattended in the cage. So we brought it to the hospital. There was possibility of threats posed by other monkeys. So we brought it here, said
We are feeding it 25 milliliters of lactogen milk seven times a day. When it would grow up, we’ll try to put it back in the same cage of its troop. If it gets social acceptance, its good. Otherwise, we will place it in separate cage,”
The Lucknow zoo has already saved and successfully rehabilitated a few monkeys and leopards in the past. (ANI)
