Y. S. Dadwal takes charge as Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal
November 11th, 2010 - 10:57 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Nov.11 (ANI): Former Delhi Police Commissioner Y. S. Dadwal has taken over as the Director General of the Central Paramilitary Force, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
He took charge as Director General on Wednesday.
The post of the Director General of SSB was lying vacant since October 31 when the earlier incumbent M V Krishna Rao had retired.
Dadwal handed over his earlier charge of Delhi Police Commissioner to IPS officer B K Gupta.
Senior SSB officers briefed Dadwal about the SSB’s history and duties through a power-point presentation.
The presentation also informed about the SSB’s deployment, formations and various units across the country was also presented to the new chief at the headquarters in Delhi.
On his new responsibility, Dadwal said earlier that he will have to “study first” and only then he could give comments on his assignment.
Dadwal, a 1974-batch IPS officer, had performed his duties as Delhi Police Commissioner for over three years during which he was credited for the foolproof security arrangements during the Commonwealth Games in the national capital.
The SSB guards 1,751 kilometres of Indo-Nepal border and 699 kilometres of Indo-Bhutan border.
Dadwal is the 11th DG of SSB, which comprises about 50,000 personnel. (ANI)
