World’s first hybrid two-wheelers launched in Bangalore
December 17th, 2009 - 2:16 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )Bangalore, Dec 17 (ANI): Eko Vehicles, a company based in Bangalore on Wednesday launched the world’s first hybrid bikes and scooters.
The ET-120 and Strike two wheelers have been developed in collaboration with US and UK based companies.
The hybrid two wheeler runs both on gasoline and the battery, almost doubling the mileage per litre of petrol.
“We developed a hybrid technology which will allow the electric motor together with the gasoline motor or petrol motor to be in combination. So, they should get unlimited range. So, when you drive in gasoline, you are charging the motor,” said Alan Rubeinsten, a U.S collaborator.
This wonder bike of 120cc capacity will halve carbon emission.
“Their calculation is that half a tonne of carbon emission is reduced as compared to a gasoline power vehicle when you use a electric vehicle,” said Anil Ananthkrishnan, Chairman and CEO, Eko Vehicles.
The state government is considering tax subsidies to promote the Green Technology hybrid automobiles. (ANI)
