- Siliguri, Nov. 15 (ANI): In a bid to make HIV patients self reliant, an NGO organised a four-day vocational training workshop in Siliguri.
During the workshop, the West Bengal Voluntary Health Organisation (WBVHO) trained HIV Positive volunteers in making soft toys and handicraft bags.
“I have organised basic training for these HIV positive patients in our voluntary organisation. Talking about the economic factor, they merely manage to earn something to run their families. Our organisation helps them to be self-sufficient,” said Tarun Kumar Maity, Project Manager of WBVHA.
HIV Positive volunteers said that such a vocational training would help them earn a livelihood and join the mainstream.
“I have come from Darjeeling for this training and I am HIV positive. This is my fourth day here and I have learnt making soft toys, paper bags and I am still learning all these skills,” said Kousik Rai. (ANI)
