Winter session of Parliament begins today
November 19th, 2009 - 11:06 am ICT by ANINew Delhi, Nov.19 (ANI): The Winter Session of Parliament beginning from today is likely to be stormy on a number of issues.
The Government intends to introduce as many as 62 new bills during the session, including the bill providing for raising reservation of women in panchayats from 33 per cent at present to 50 per cent.
Earlier, talking to reporters, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Water Resources, Pawan Kumar Bansal has said that the Winter Session of Parliament would commence from Thursday and subject to exigencies of Government business, the session will conclude on December 21, 2009. He said that the session would provide 23 sittings spread over 33 days.
He said the session would be devoted to essential government legislative and other business, including financial business relating to Supplementary Demands for Grants for the year 2009-10 in respect of Railway, General Budgets and State Budget in respect of Jharkhand. (ANI)
