Washington, Mar 26 (ANI): Whoopi Goldberg is set to co-produce the first Broadway revival of Ntozake Shange’s 1976 play For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow Is Enuf.
And she is also co-producing new Rialto-bound tuner Bricktop — Queen of the Night, about a cabaret owner in the 1920s and ’30s, reports Variety.
Helmed by Shirley Jo Finney and choreographed by Hinton Battle, For Colored Girls, will star India.Arie.
The show, which Goldberg co-produces with DreamTeam Entertainment Group, aims to start previews in mid-July for an early August opening.
The announcement of Goldberg’s association with the project was timed to an Actors Fund benefit performance of songs by Ron Abel, who co-wrote the musical.
Paul Lambert and Jonas Neilsen are co-producers of Bricktop while Abel and Chuck Steffan wrote the score. (ANI
