West Bengal police arrest two Maoists in West Midnapore
December 25th, 2010 - 3:04 pm ICT by ANIWest Midnapore, Dec 25 (ANI): West Bengal Police took into its custody two Maoist leaders in West Midnapore district on Friday, and recovered a huge cache of directional landmines as well as uniforms of Central paramilitary forces from them.
The arrested have been identified as Ajit Mahato and Kalipada Bagal, and will be produced in the district court following further interrogations.
Meanwhile, the police here have launched an inquiry into the current Maoist activities in West Midnapore, Bankura, and Purulia Districts, as the state prepares itself for the 2011 assembly elections.
Earlier on Tuesday, the security personnel arrested a sub-zonal Maoist commander and two other ultras in Bihar’s Gaya District. (ANI)
