- New Delhi, July 19 (ANI): While admitting that Pakistan has been making efforts in the last six months to counter terrorist elements on its soil, the U.S Secreteary of State Hilary Clinton on Sunday said that Washington expects Islamabad to do much more on this front.
Speaking on the issue of Pakistan’s commitment to fight terrorism, Clinton said: “Terrorism within any country is a threat to that country and so over the last six months, in the course of working with the Government of Pakistan, we believe that there is a commitment to fight terrorism that permeates the entire government and that is what our expectation is as well.”
Clinton said that the United States expected Pakistan to take steps to bring to justice those who launched the terror attacks in Mumbai last year and the U.S was keeping an eye on the developments.
“We are certainly watching and expecting that there will be justice and that those who launched the horrific attack in Mumbai will meet their day of reckoning. As you know that I stayed at the Taj Hotel to send the message that we will not be intimidated by, or in any way, deterred by terrorists,” said Hillary Clinton at a function on Climate Change held in Gurgaon, on the outskirts of Delhi.
Clinton reiterated the commitment of United States to fight terror and said that it expected every country to stand against this surge of terrorism.
“There is no country in the world that is more committed to end this surge of terrorism than us. We have suffered from the effects of 9/11. We have sent young men and women in the military to die in our struggle against the terrorists who attacked us and we expect every country to stand against this surge of terrorism. This is not limited to any one country. It is an expectation that we have for every country,” said Clinton. (ANI)
