A total of 233 candidates are in the fray with more than 24 lakh voters to cast votes between 7 am to 3 pm.
Voting will take place in fourteen constituencies.
Former State Deputy Chief Minister Sudhir Mahato, Health Minister Dinesh Sarangi, Rural Development Minister Enos Ekka and Tribal Welfare Minister Joba Manjhi are among the prominent candidates whose electoral fate would be decided today.
According to sources, tight security arrangements have been made, as there are chances of violence taking place in the Maoist-dominated areas. The Centre has also deployed six helicopters for surveillance.
Of the 81 Assembly seats in all, polling for 51 has already been completed in the three previous phases.
