Vodka beats Scotch as UKs favourite tipple

The Russian drink has become the UKs No1 hard liquor for the first time, with Absolut and Smirnoff knocking off traditional blended whiskies, such as Bells, Teachers and Famous Grouse, from the top spot.
And, witness to this is the figures from sales in shops, supermarkets and off-licences.
According to Off Licence News, vodka sales rose by 11 percent to 747 million pounds in the year to April as compared to single malts which rose by just 1 percent to 742 million pounds.
Editor Rosie Davenport told the Daily Star: This is a landmark moment for one of our most treasured national drinks.
The third favourite drink in the UK turned out to be Gin, followed by Brandy and Specialities (Pimms, Pernod etc) in fourth and fifth place respectively.
