Vivek Oberoi plays Holi with underprivileged children in Vrindavan
February 27th, 2010 - 6:21 pm ICT by ANIVrindavan (Uttar Pradesh), Feb 27 (ANI): Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi celebrated the festival of colours ‘Holi’ with the poor and the destitute children in Vrindavan, near Mathura.
Oberoi played Holi along with the underprivileged children in a traditional manner using flowers and colours.
Claiming to have played Holi for the first time, the actor said that he enjoyed celebrating the festival with those children.
“I really liked it. I played Holi for the first time in my life. Today I really enjoyed playing it with flowers along with these children. They applied colours on me and make me dance on the banks of river Yamuna. Even I played with them and applied colours to them,” said Oberoi.
“Instead of giving assurances and making never ending promises, I felt that if I can make some difference in these children’s lives, then what better than that feeling. There is no point in making promises. One should actually do something,” he added.
The actor even watched special dance performances and cultural programs presented to him by these children.
All the children seemed excited to have their favourite actor beside them, who kept chatting with them for hours.
This year ‘Holi’ will be celebrated on February 28 and March 1.
Holi is a festival of joy, mirth and buoyancy, and is celebrated when both man and nature cast off the winter gloom. Holi heralds the arrival of spring, the season of hope and new beginnings and marks the rekindling of the spirit of life. (ANI)
