Vinod Rai releases new logo of Indian Audit and Accounts Department
November 10th, 2010 - 7:02 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Nov 10 (ANI): The Comptroller and Auditor General, Vinod Rai, on Wednesday released the new logo of Indian Audit and Accounts Department that highlights the authority and independence of this public audit institution of the country.
As the curtain raiser to the 150th anniversary of Comptroller and Auditor General of India, the officials decided to go in for an exclusive symbol and the CAG used the generic Ashoka Pillar, India’s national emblem, as its representing symbol.
The new logo reflects the audit institution’s impartiality, alertness and perception.
Speaking on the occasion, Vinod Rai said as the institution steps into its 150th year, credibility is what they need to uphold.
“Its credibility, its professionalism and most important its independence over the years. Today, anything brought out by this department, any audit done by this department is considered to be absolutely above both credible, objective, a clinical analysis of whatever the situation is, and that credibility we have to maintain at all cost,” he added.
Vinod Rai further said the Comptroller and Auditor General has been entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring that government’s programs and objectives are fulfilled as per the guidelines of the Parliament.
“We have maintained and we excel in the activity of improving governance as much as anybody else in the government does. We have a distinct role and we perform that role, and in the performance of that role, we are shoulder to shoulder trying to ensure that government’s programmes, government’s money, government’s objectives are fulfilled,” he added.
The logo has been designed by Shivan Dua, an engineering student, whose design was selected amongst the many entries received by the institution through a competition.
Dua was awarded a cash prize of Rs 100,000 for capturing the essence and the mission of CAG. (ANI)
