Nemra, (Jharkhand), Dec 28 (ANI): Locals of Nemra, the native village of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief Sibu Soren have welcomed his taking charge as Chief Minister of Jharkhand.
Villagers danced and played with colours ahead of his swearing in as Chief Minister on Wednesday.
Soren staked his claim to form the next government in Jharkhand on Saturday with the support of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and some other parties.
Soren’s family were pleased and wished him well.
“We want development. We have got power after much struggle and not by begging. And it is the result of our struggle that we have reached here. And we feel that during the five year tenure of the government, Shibu Soren will govern well and keep people happy,” said Lallo Soren, Sibu Soren’s brother.
Soren’s Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) bagged 18 seats.
The Congress and Babulal Marandi’s Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) emerged as the largest political block, winning 25 seats.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance managed only 20 seats, including two of Janata Dal (United).
The RJD alliance group won just five seats. (ANI)
