Vice Chief of Air Staff flags in IAF’s mountaineering expedition team
May 25th, 2010 - 11:41 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, May 25 (ANI): The Vice Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal PK Barbora, on Tuesday flagged-in the Indian Air Force Mountaineering Expedition team to the twin peak of Mount Kamet and Mount Abi Gamin.
The team of 35 mountaineers included eight women officers aspiring for Mt Everest in 2011, two Army personnel and four personnel from Bangladesh Air Force.
Earlier on May 13, two teams of three members each successfully summited the peaks of Garhwal Himalayas
Several IAF expeditions have been mounted since 2009 to train the IAF women Mountaineering team for Mt. Everest expedition, slated in 2011.
This was the third expedition for the team after Mount Stok Kangri in August 2009 and Mount Bhagirathi-II in September-October 2009. (ANI)
