Pranab Mukherjee New Delhi, Mar 4(ANI): U.S. Under Secretary of Treasury for International Affairs Lael Brainard on Friday delivered a keynote address here at the Institute of International Finance’s (IIF) spring membership meeting, highlighting the United States-India Economic and Financial Partnership, near-term challenges facing the global economy and priority areas for policy coordination.

Brainard is currently visiting India to highlight the growing economic partnership between the U.S. and India, and to discuss how trade and investment presents dramatic and expanding opportunities to create high-quality jobs in both countries.

The trip also focuses on the key role women play in India’s growth trajectory.

In addition, Brainard will attend a sub-cabinet level meeting of the U.S.-India Economic and Financial Partnership to review progress and next steps on areas of cooperation, including macroeconomic policy issues, financial sector reforms and infrastructure finance.

U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner and Indian Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee had launched the partnership in India in April last year.

The partnership aims to deepen the bilateral economic relationship between the U.S. and India.

The partnership will next meet in Washington in the spring at the Minister level. (ANI)
