US should do more work with new Pak government: SharifApril 17th, 2008 - 1:54 pm ICT by admin
Lahore, Apr 17 (ANI): Former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said the US should do more work with the newly elected Parliament.
Sharif told BBC that President Pervez Musharraf was no longer a key figure for the US, and that the personal friendship between President Bush and President Musharraf should not hamper relations between the two countries.
He also said that Musharraf doesnt have any support in Washington, may be a few people in the administration still think that he should be allowed to stay as President, whether he can do anything or not.
But I think he (Musharraf) has outlived his utility for anything, and the present US Administration must know that if they have to work with the elected parliament, the elected government, Sharif said.
Talking about disgraced nuclear scientist, Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, Sharif said he didnt see any evidence of proliferation during Khans tenure.
In 2004, Khan had admitted that he had transferred nuclear secrets to foreign countries, The Nation reported. (ANI)
