U.S. sculptor unveils life-like structures made from butter

London, Sept 22 (ANI): An innovative sculptor in the U.S. has unveiled an unusual collection of life-like sculptures that have been made from butter.

Pennsylvania-based Jim Victor, 63, has created life-like figures of a cow riding a motorbike, a girl carrying milk churns, and another girl lying on a bed wearing only a bikini, entirely from butter.

The collection also includes a detailed model of a farm, and a sculpture of a farmer milking a cow.

Victor said that he created the sculptures in his special workshop, which was kept to a temperature of just under 13 degrees to ensure the butter did not melt.

He said that at that low temperature the butter behaved exactly like clay, and was easy to mould.

“Butter is fairly easy to work with but you must maintain a cool enough temperature in your work space to be successful - 13 degrees is essential, the Telegraph quoted him as saying.

“It works like clay at that temperature.

“I find that larger sculptures work better than smaller ones since it is such a soft material.

“I use clay modelling tools that I make from wood to model the butter,” he added.

Victors first ever butter sculpture was unveiled in 1995, when he created a model commemorating the Battle of the Bulge.

He said that the complex sculptures could take up to a month to craft, but most of them took him no more than 10 days.

“It depends on the size and complexity of the job. As well as butter I also work with cheese, chocolate and fruits and vegetables, he said

“Fruits and vegetables are the most challenging and the most interesting since I have more colours and textures to work with,” he added.

Victor has also created chocolate sculptures of movie stars Mickey Rooney and Robin Williams, as well as legendary crooner Louis Armstrong. (ANI)
