New Delhi, Mar 19 (ANI): US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi will arrive here tonight on a five-day visit.
On Thursday, Pelosi will meet Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and other senior Indian leaders.
Pelosi is likely to hold discussions on key issues such as the bilateral US-India civilian nuclear deal. The developments in Tibet may also be discussed. Pelosi is an admirer of the Dalai Lama and has backed his calls for dialogue with Beijing.
Pelosi is undertaking an “India Only” visit unlike her other colleagues who include other countries in their itinerary.
According to sources, Pelosi is also scheduled to visit Agra and Mumbai. She is likely to go to Dharamshala to meet the Tibetan leadership and ascertain the situation across the border.
The previous visit by a US Congress Speaker was in 2006 by her predecessor Dennis Hastert of the Republican Party. (ANI)
