New Delhi, Feb 15 (ANI): Following his visits to Afghanistan and Pakistan, President Barack Obama’’s Special Envoy to these two countries, Richard Holbrooke, will arrive in New Delhi on Sunday.
Holbrooke is likely to hold discussions with External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and National Security Adviser M K Narayanan on Monday on the situation prevailing in India after the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
Holbrooke’’s visit provides a first opportunity to India to present an account to the Obama administration on the terrorism threat from Pakistan.
Holbrooke will in all probability, be given a briefing on the evidence of Pakistani involvement in the Mumbai attacks.
Through Holbrooke, India is expected to impress upon the US to mount diplomatic pressure on Pakistan to take strict action against terrorist groups operating from its soil.
India could also demand suspension of US military aid to Pakistan.
Holbrooke will report to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Barack Obama once he returns to Washington.
The US has already made it clear that the Kashmir issue is not on Holbrooke’’s agenda. (ANI)
