U.S. Embassy celebrates 50th anniversary in Delhi
January 5th, 2009 - 3:59 pm ICT by ANI New Delhi, Jan.5 (ANI): Ambassador and Mrs. David C. Mulford today led the American Embassy community in celebration as the United States Embassy Chancery building in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi marked 50 years in support of U.S-India bilateral cooperation.
Joined by distinguished guests, including Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, the Ambassador commemorated the 50th anniversary of the building’’s opening, which took place on January 5, 1959 in the presence of Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, an embassy press release said.
Ambassador Mulford noted, “The U.S.-India partnership is broad, deep, and flourishing. This building has served generations of American diplomats working in its service. Even after 50 years, it remains a powerful symbol of the relationship’’s future prospects.” (ANI)
