Two top Hizb terrorists killed in Kashmir
February 11th, 2010 - 3:20 pm ICT by IANSJammu, Feb 11 (IANS) Two top terrorists of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen were killed in a gun battle with the security forces in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir Thursday, police said.
Police said after nearly an hour-long gun battle with the Hizb terrorists Zakir Hussain and Muzaffar Ahmad, the duo were killed.
“The gun battle started when a contingent of police and Rashtriya Rifles soldiers raided a hideout of militants in Marmat area, up in the mountains at a height of 10,000 feet early Thursday morning, while it was snowing heavily there,” Senior Superintendent of Police Parbhat Singh told IANS over phone.
He termed this as a big achievement for the security forces.
While Zakir was active in the area since 2002, Muzaffar had been active since 2004. Both were involved in a series of terrorist acts, police say. Police had been looking for them for a long time. “But we achieved this success today,” Parbhat Singh said.
