Two NDFB militants killed in Assam
March 12th, 2010 - 4:29 pm ICT by ANIChirag (Assam), Mar 12 (ANI): Security forces killed two militants of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) in an encounter in Assam’s Chirag District on Friday early hours.
According to Assam Police, the incident took place at Dadangiri village in Chirang District, which is about 170 kilometers from Guwahati.
The security forces rained a house with specific intelligence input about the presence of NDFB militants.
The militants challenged the personnel and soon there was a fierce exchange of fire from both sides.
“After more than an hour long encounter, we managed to kill two NDFB militants and probably a few of them managed to escape,” Assam Police spokesperson said.
Police recovered a large cache of weapons and explosives, including two pistols, detonators, and grenades from the hideout.
Meanwhile, both army and state police have launched a massive hunt operation for other hiding militants along India-Bhutan border. (ANI)
