Two Muthoot murder accused surrender in Tamil Nadu
September 8th, 2009 - 4:35 pm ICT by ANIChennai, Sep.8 (ANI): The two main accused in the August 21 murder of Muthoot group scion Paul M George surrendered on Tuesday in Tamil Nadu.
Rajesh and Om Prakash have been arrested and would be produced before the Nellai magistrate’s court.
Tamil Nadu police said they had informed Kerala police about the development and a team from the state is arriving to interrogate the men.
George, 30, who was heading the Muthoot M George Group’s hospitality business, was murdered near Alleppy in Kerala.
He was stabbed to death on the night of August 21 on the Alappuzha-Changanassery road, while another friend with him suffered injuries.
The two men, Rakesh and Om Prakash, both with previous criminal records were said to be accompanying George in his vehicle at the time of the murder. A scuffle with a gang reportedly occurred during which the stabbings took place, but police have not ruled out a premeditated crime motivated by business rivalry.
The Muthoot Group is a major player in the financial services business in Kerala and has been slowly expanding its reach to other parts of the country. (ANI)
