Two militants killed in Imphal
February 3rd, 2010 - 4:29 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )Iribung (Manipur), Feb 3 (ANI): The Manipur Police gunned down two militants after a prolonged encounter near Iribung in Imphal East district on Tuesday.
Briefing the media persons, Rajen Singh, Superintendent of Police, Imphal East said that on receipt of specific information about the presence of militants in the Lair Hills region, the commandoes were rushed to the spot.
” We went on this road and were checking the whereabouts. There we saw a youth strolling. In fact he was waiting with arms, I guess. When we were returning back after checking the suspected house, the same youth fired upon us,” said Rajen Singh.
The security personnel also recovered AK-56 assault rifles, 180 live rounds of ammunition and a powerful Chinese grenade. (ANI)
