Nagrota ( Jammu and Kashmir ), June 18 (ANI): At least two passengers were killed and 33 other injured in Jammu and Kashmir when a bus fell into a gorge at Nagrota on the outskirts of Jammu on Wednesday.
The bus was on its way to ‘Shudh Mahadev’ town located about 120 kilometers from Jammu .
According to sources, the private bus skidded off and fell into the gorge when the driver lost control over the steering wheel while negotiating a bend.
Officials said while two people died on the spot, 33 others suffered injuries. The injured were rushed to a city hospital where the condition of five serious.
A total of 33 injured were brought to the hospital, two were brought dead. We are treating the injured, around four-five are serious, said Ramesh Gupta, Superintendent, Government Medical College , Jammu .
The cause of the accident is being ascertained. However, some of the injured suspected technical fault to be cause of the accident.
There was a steep turn and the driver tried to stop the bus. The bus then fell into the gorge. Now, the driver says there were stones in the way, he couldn’t balance the steering, but who knows, said Babli, a passenger. (ANI)
