Mahore (Jammu and Kashmir), Oct.7 (ANI): Security forces shot dead two senior Hizbul Mujahideen militants during an encounter in the Mahore tehsil of Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi District.
The dead militants were identified as Mustaq Ahmad alias Irfan, self-styled commander of the outfit, and Shabir Ahmad alias Hamza.
Acting on a tip-off, police and personnel of the 126 Battalion of the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a joint operation in Mahore, which is about 160 kilometers north of Jammu.
“Two top militants have been gunned down in Mahore. Out of the two, one is Irfan, who was the area commander of Mahore from past 11 years. Earlier he was in Lashkar-e-Taiba and later he joined HM (Hizbul Mujahideen). 14 First Information Report (FIR) were filed against him at the Mahore police station,” said Sujit Kumar, Sub-Divisional Police officer, Mahore.
“The other militant named Shabir was also a local of Mahore. Five FIRs had been filed against him. He was also an A-grade militant,”
Two AK-rifles and large quantity of ammunition and explosive material were recovered from the encounter site. (ANI)
